self expression
self expression to me is whenever you take your thoughts or feelings and express them in different ways of medium. I dont think that self expression is only thourgh fine arts and illustration i think that you can express yourself through design... design of anything, of a product or a magazine layout. You are still putting your own thoughts into it. Your own twist you could say. Then you can ask whats ones "Self" i think its hard determine ones self or if we are really what we seem. i guess your self is what you believe in and the things you follow personally. Your thoughts and the life that you live. I know that we all have to feed off each other to get anywhere. ive been going through alot of hard times lately and if my family and friends werent there for me i wouldnt make it anywhere or do anything. thats what i believe is feeding off of others "self". Also getting inspration from others is alot simialar.

You point to two centrally important points in the interpretation of the self: one is that it is partly comprised of individual thoughts and ideas and beliefs. The other is that it responds in some way to the presence and actions of others.
The expression of the self, you're quite correct, need not be in any strict understanding of "art", you know, some formal notion that painting on canvas is art but tattooing is not, for example. Self-expression, as my comment to your earlier post shows, can(at least in my view) be extended to something like eating.
The expression of the self relates inwardly to beliefs, feelings, and thoughts, and outwardly to other people and things beyond the self, in the "outer world" of experience.
